Meet William — Your Indiana Whitetail Habitat Consultant

I started deer hunting in 2017. Before that, my hunting experience was brief. As a teenager, I went squirrel hunting with my Papaw a handful of times, and one year my Granny’s boss let me sit with him during Indiana’s gun season — one single sit with my Remington 870 Super Magnum, a rifled slug, and an improved cylinder thread-in choke. But that was the extent of my hunting career until my later 20s.

I didn’t harvest my first deer until 2019, when I was 28 years old.

Before that? A lot of empty sits. Long daylight-to-dark sits where I didn’t see a single deer.

Most hunters would’ve quit — and honestly, some days I did.

But here’s the truth: I hate when I suck at things I enjoy. So down the rabbit hole I went.

With no steady place to hunt, it felt like I had to rebuild every year. New permission spots, new public tracts, and new deer (and human) patterns — nothing stayed the same for long.

Over time, I hunted 40+ different properties across Indiana — big farms, tiny lots, backyard setups, and every kind of public land you can think of. That constant turnover forced me to learn how to read deer fast: bedding, food, access, pressure, wind, the whole system.

I also became obsessed with improving deer ground. I’ve managed no-till food plots on more than a dozen properties, and helped friends do the same. I learned how soil, seed choice, pressure, and access all work together to create a property deer want to use every day.

After 450–500 sits, those early failures turned into real-world skill. I’ve harvested deer on 200-acre farms, and I’ve harvested deer in my own back yard, which is under one acre. Some seasons, my family puts 5–6 deer in the freezer.

Those struggles taught me something simple:

If you understand bedding, food, pressure, and access, you can make almost any property hunt better.

My name is William. I’m a 34-year-old father of two boys — Layne (5) and Preston (3) — living near Indianapolis. I build habitat plans the same way I learned to hunt:

Honest, simple, real-world strategies that help everyday hunters see more deer and take better shots.

Whether your land is 5 acres or 200 acres, I’ll help you set realistic goals and steps to put the odds in your favor to achieve them. We will assist you in building a property that holds deer, grows deer, and hunts better every season!

I learned it the hard way — so you don’t have to.
